After reading Richard Preston's excellent book "Demon in the Freezer", I'm convinced that a weaponized version of smallpox could be created and used. Vaccines that we have now might not effect the strain created and would be in short supply. Do you think we will see a smallpox attack in the next ten years?

A vaccine is a treatment that teaches our immune system how to protect itself against a disease-causing germ like a virus or bacteria. Vaccines are one of the world’s most effective tools for preventing diseases. Polio, smallpox, measles, and mumps have been nearly eliminated from many countries because of vaccines. Ideally, an AIDS vaccine would prevent people from being infected with HIV (the virus that causes AIDS).

Hardcore Punk is a faster and heavier version of Punk Rock usually characterized by short, loud, and often passionate songs with exceptionally fast tempos and chord changes. Some of the biggest acts included Black Flag, Bad Brains, and Minor Threat. Hardcore lyrics often express righteous indignation at society, usually from a politically left perspective. There is a good supply of stuff to write songs about so maybe it's time for a reemergence?

Could a top 40 song be composed using a scale other than the traditional 12 note scale? For instance the Bohlen-Pierce scale is a harmonic, non-octave scale; its 13 tone steps fill the framework of the twelfth (3:1). It is meant to permit creation and performance of harmonic music in tonal relations that are different from those of traditional scales.

Dash Rip Rock is known as one of the best live acts in the south. Unfortunately they haven't achieved much radio success (except for "Let's go smoke some pot" which really didn't show how great of a band they are). Fred Leblanc of Cowboy Mouth fame was once a member and originally recorded "Jenny Says" as a Dash song. So could this be the decade that they break through? Do they really want to?

Each week you would get points for a celeb making the cover plus less points per photo inside. You're also docked points if your celeb makes the "Fashion Police" section. See the topic details for more of the rules...

Whereas winter saw thinner versions slung low on the hip of many a pair of jeans, these belts are cinching the season's most feminine dresses—both full and body-skimming.

The United States, the world’s leading debtor nation, is now heavily dependent on Chinese capital to underwrite its fast-growing debt. If China ever decides to divert their capital surplus elsewhere, either to internal investment or to the development of oil, gas, and mineral resources elsewhere in the world, the U.S. economy will be in trouble.

Hidden deep beneath the surface of Yellowstone National park lies one of the most destructive and yet least-understood natural phenomena in the world - a supervolcano. Only a handful exist in the world but when one erupts it will be unlike any volcano we have ever witnessed. The explosion will be heard around the world. The sky will darken, black rain will fall, and the Earth will be plunged into the equivalent of a nuclear winter.
