Art Brut - Franchised Bands
10 Years
Art Brut have a quite widespread following of 'franchises', whose names range from AB0 (the classic Art Brut) to AB3.14/Pi or even to AB1948. These franchises often record and play Art Brut songs during performances. The original band is famous in England for their single "Formed a Band".

Is it the Future?
Return of Hardcore Punk Music
5 Years
Hardcore Punk is a faster and heavier version of Punk Rock usually characterized by short, loud, and often passionate songs with exceptionally fast tempos and chord changes. Some of the biggest acts included Black Flag, Bad Brains, and Minor Threat. Hardcore lyrics often express righteous indignation at society, usually from a politically left perspective. There is a good supply of stuff to write songs about so maybe it's time for a reemergence?

A popular song composed using an
alternative harmonic scale
25 Years
Could a top 40 song be composed using a scale other than the traditional 12 note scale? For instance the Bohlen-Pierce scale is a harmonic, non-octave scale; its 13 tone steps fill the framework of the twelfth (3:1). It is meant to permit creation and performance of harmonic music in tonal relations that are different from those of traditional scales.

Dash Rip Rock breaks through
10 Years
Dash Rip Rock is known as one of the best live acts in the south. Unfortunately they haven't achieved much radio success (except for "Let's go smoke some pot" which really didn't show how great of a band they are). Fred Leblanc of Cowboy Mouth fame was once a member and originally recorded "Jenny Says" as a Dash song. So could this be the decade that they break through? Do they really want to?
